Value Delivered
Dynalectric San Diego provided electrical, construction, and power distribution solutions for this new P-750 helicopter maintenance facility and hangar. Because the project required multiply utility shutdowns, our team had to collaborate with the client and governmental bodies in order to smoothly facilitate utility relocations.
Special features of this project included sound attenuation for the administration and shop space, an aqueous firefighting foam protection system, telephone system, and an advanced intrusion detection system. Additionally, the project achieved LEED certification.
Client Objectives
The P-750 helicopter maintenance hangar was built at Naval Air Station North Island, a part of Naval Base Coronado. The structure is comprised of a three-bay, 112,000 square foot steel framed building with multiple levels.
Solutions
We provided three complete 400-megahertz power distribution systems, one for each bay in the hangar which are each separate commands. In turn, each of these three systems included one flight line distribution center within the hangar and four on the flight deck, for a total of 15 distribution centers.
Our services also included:
- Electrical and mechanical utilities
- Fire alarm and life safety
- Telecommunications and data
- Security and close captioned television
- Power check pad
- Engine wash pad
- Compressed air building
- Secure communications connections
- Aircraft parking apron and roadway
- Elevator
- Backup generators
- Closed loop wash rack system
