The Westfield Carlsbad Mall renovation project included the addition of Regal Cinemas as a new tenant. The 12-screen movie theater was designed with a sophisticated setup for movie goers, including a VIP seating experience on plush leather recliners on deep riser platforms.
Dynalectric San Diego worked with Regal Cinemas’ design team to provide delivery of full electrical services, life safety, and security/CCTV systems that were compliant with local codes. Our ability to adjust to the owner’s schedule, which included allowing outside vendors in to perform equipment installation, was key to on-time project delivery.
Client Objectives
The owner of Carlsbad Mall announced in 2008 their plans to renovate all their malls to keep them current with today’s technology and to provide a new, exciting experience for shoppers. Regal Cinemas was added as a new tenant as part of this renovation.
Solutions
We provided full electrical services, life safety, and security/CCTV systems for this theater tenant improvement. The design had special requirements for the MEP trades, including required pathways for specific vendor systems. With a thorough review of these requirements with the Regal development team, we were able to ensure that integration would be seamless.
Client Background
The Carlsbad Mall was originally built in 1969 and was purchased in the mid-90s by the Australian company, Westfield Group.
