Value Delivered

Working with the owner’s engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, Dynalectric San Diego re-sequenced the workflow for this new solar power field and shortened the schedule by over 15%. This allowed the project to come online sooner and start producing renewable energy. In addition, the work was completed safely, with approximately a half million manhours with no lost-time accidents.

Client Objectives

The solar field will sell its entire output to San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) for long term power contracts. Renewable energy will help SDG&E and the state of California reach their renewable energy goals.

Solutions

We provided solar panel installation, electrical distribution, fiber optics, fire alarm, security, and site lighting for this project. Our team successfully managed the logistics of receiving, installing, connecting, and testing close to one million panels.

Installation included all DC and AC wiring from the panels to the inverters and back to the substation. The underground portion of the project was completed months ahead of schedule, allowing the owner to produce power well before their anticipated production dates.

Client Background

The Centinela Solar Energy Project is one of the projects that will help the state of California make a rapid and responsible move to utility-scale production of renewable energy on public lands.
